In these sculptures this memory of flying over Manhattan has been recreated on everyday objects as a metaphor for the lingering of the images, which appear to me now, like a dream like sequence. The cardboard cityscapes are designed to be to look like architectural models but be devoid of function. By cramming the forms into a space on the object, the normal role of the object has been suspended. This and the use of the materials and crude application suggest the fragility of memory and the importance it has on shaping our existence.
These works were exhibited in the 'Up and Coming' exhibition at the CUC Northwest in Liverpool in July 2008.
